Al-Sadd striker Baghdad Bounedjah netted his 100th goal for the club during the Wolves 8-1 thrashing of Qatar SC on Thursday.
Going into Thursday’s QNB Stars League game, Bounedjah was on 99 goals. After scoring a hat-trick in the big win, he now has 102 strikes to his name. The 30-year old has been in phenomenal form for the Wolves this season as the hat -trick took the Algerian striker’s season tally to 34 goals, which puts him on top of the league goalscorers list. Against Qatar SC, he scored one from the penalty spot in the first half then added two in the closing minutes of the game.
Al Sadd confirmed that Bounedjah reached 100 goals on Twitter on Thursday, making him just the third player to reach the landmark for the Wolves.
Bounedjah is now Al Sadd’s second-top goalscorer behind Carlos Tenorio who according to Wikipedia, netted 104 goals in his six-year spell with the club between 2003-2009. Former player Khalfan Ibrahim is third on the list with 101 goals. Hassan Haydos, who is still on active duty for Al Sadd is fourth on the list with 96 goals for the club.
Bounedjah’s century plus two goals are from, 77 in the league in 55 appearances, 13 in the AFC Champions League, ten goals in other cup competitions including the Amir Cup.
