DOHA: Five participants in the Al Talaa Championship and one participant in the Hadad Al Tahadi Championship joined the ranks of those qualified for the next round within the activities of the 16th edition of the Qatar International Falconry and Hunting Festival (Marmi 2025), organised by the Qatari Al Gannas Association, under the patronage of HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, and with the support of the Social and Sports Activities Fund (Daam) from January 1 to February 1 at Sabkhat Marmi in Sealine.

The competitions of groups 6 to 10 in the Al Tal’a Championship resulted in the qualification of 5 falconers to the next round, namely: Ahmed Rashid Al Humaidi, Hamdan Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Khaled Omair Al Nuaimi, Turki Abdullah Al Dosari, and then Saad Abdullah Al Buainain.

Khaled Omair Al Nuaimi’s falcon achieved the best time for the ascent, with a time of 27 seconds and 56 hundredths of a second.

Rashdan Obaid Al Rashdan, a member of the Tal’a Committee, said that Monday's competitions took place in an ideal atmosphere, and the number of qualifiers in the Tal’a Championship rose to 9.

Regarding changing the field of the Al Tal’a Championship this year, Al Rashdan explained that the new field serves the participating falconers, through clear vision and a distinct location.

The member of the Tal’a Committee praised the performance of the participating falconers who are making great efforts in training their falcons and selecting the best species. He pointed out that the Tal’a Championship competitions will continue tomorrow morning (Tuesday) with groups 11 to 15.

On the other hand, the competitions of the Hadad Al-Tahadi Championship for Group 5 continued this evening, and the results resulted in the victory of participant No. 23, falconer Ali Adel Al-Muslimani, who became the winner and fifth qualifier in the championship.

Ali Adel Al-Musalmani expressed his pride and happiness for winning, and promised to perform better in the context of the competition for the championship’s grand prize, which is a Lexus car.

The qualifier in the Challenge Threat Championship will win a cash prize of QR100,000, in addition to the shield for qualifying to the final. Thus, the number of qualifiers to the final to date has become 5 contestants in Challenge Threat.

For his part, Shawi Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Challenge Threat Committee, praised the distinguished performance of the falconers and the strong performance of the two sides of the challenge, pigeons and falcons.

On the other hand, Marmi Festival provides all the requirements for participants and festival-goers, with multiple services and shops that meet all requirements in 'Marmi Market' of falconry tools and falcon care, in addition to the distinguished participation every year of Souq Waqif Falcon Hospital, which provides consultations, treatments and examinations on the spot with the latest veterinary equipment.

On Tuesday, the competitions of the two Al-Tala’a tournaments will continue (in the morning) with groups 11 to 15, and the Al-Tahadi tournament will continue during the evening with group six.
