Skills Development Centre (SDC), an Indian institution of performing and martial arts organised a demonstration of karate on the occasion of its belt awarding ceremony in Doha, recently.
More than 200 students received their certificates in ‘black’, ‘brown’, ‘blue’, ‘green’, ‘orange’ and ‘yellow’ categories. First time in its history, an SDC student Zanava Subiwon received the title of ‘Sensei’.
While 34 students won the black belt with certificates issued by Japan Shotokan Karate Association Head Office in Japan 4 students were declared group champions.
Live demonstration by the karate black belt award winners was the highlight of the programme.
President of Indian embassy’s apex body, Indian Sports Centre, Azim Abbas was the chief guest on the occasion. SDC Managing Director PN Baburajan, SDC Karate Chief Instructor Sensei Shihabudheen, parents, teachers and students attended the programme.
