Inter Milan striker Joaquin Correa will be assessed on a daily basis after medical tests confirmed a calf strain.

The 30-year-old underwent an examination on Wednesday morning and will now be monitored as he works his way back towards fitness.

A statement on the club’s official website said: “Joaquin Correa underwent medical tests this morning (Wednesday) at the Istituto Clinico Humanitas in Rozzano.

“The Nerazzurri has suffered a strain to his left calf muscle. His condition will be assessed day by day.” Correa, who spent last season on loan at French club Marseille, has made five senior appearances for Inter this season, four of them from the bench, and scored one goal.

His last outing came as a substitute in a 3-1 Serie A win over Parma at the San Siro on December 6.

Meanwhile, midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu will also be monitored after complaining of discomfort in his right thigh.

A statement read: “Hakan Calhanoglu underwent clinical and instrumental tests this afternoon at the Istituto Clinico Humanitas in Rozzano.

“The examinations showed no muscle injuries, but a slight elongation in the adductors of the right thigh. His situation will be evaluated day by day.”
