The Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation organized Katara Triathlon Championship, which took place at the Katara Cultural Village Beach, saw nearly 200 male and female athletes in various age groups take part. The event featured thrilling competitions in the Super Sprint, Olympic Distance, National Championship for Qataris, and Duathlon events.

The Super Sprint race consisted of 750 meters swimming, 19 kilometers cycling, and 5.6 kilometers running. The Olympic Distance race included 1.5 kilometers swimming, 38 kilometers cycling, and 11 kilometers running. The Duathlon event involved 100 meters running, 12 kms cycling, followed by 2.5 kms running.

The Super Sprint distance posed a real challenge for all participants, starting with a 750-meter swim in the sea, followed by a 19-kilometer cycling race on beautiful routes along Al Khobar Street, and finishing with a 5.6-kilometer run on the hills of Katara. The championship featured a well-rounded race that required high performance from participants in all categories, as well as the Olympic Distance race on the same route.

Successful organization praised

Engineer Abdulaziz Soud Al Tamimi, President of the Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation, praised the success of the championship and the high level of participation, confirming that the organization of the event was exemplary and the atmosphere was perfect for competition. He said in his speech: "We are very proud of the success of this championship, which brought together competitors of all age groups from both citizens and residents in a wonderful place like Katara. The beautiful atmosphere accompanying the race made the championship an exceptional experience, where athletes not only enjoyed the athletic challenge but also appreciated the beauty of the organization and the surrounding environment.”

Abdullah Shaheen Al Kaabi, Secretary-General, said, "Today, we witnessed strong and exciting competitions, which reflects the significant development of the triathlon sport in Qatar, especially among citizens. This edition added a new category for Qataris, and we are committed to organizing such events to promote sports culture and encourage young Qataris to participate in these diverse sports.”
