Qatar Charity (QC) has provided essential aid to people with special needs in Djibouti, as part of its winter campaign ‘How Long’. The aid, which aims to enhance social inclusion and improve health conditions, included wheelchairs and blood pressure measuring devices.

The aid, which included 150 wheelchairs and 250 blood pressure measuring devices, was handed over by Qatar Charity’s Djibouti office to Djibouti’s National Agency for Persons with Disabilities (ANPH).

The event was attended by Ambassador of Qatar to Djibouti HE Dr Rashid bin Shafea Al Marri and Director-General of ANPH Daala Said Mahmoud.

This initiative marks a significant step in improving the lives of people with special needs, laying the groundwork for a sustainable partnership between Qatar Charity and ANPH. Further aid is expected in the coming months to provide continued support.

During the handover ceremony, Director of Qatar Charity’s Djibouti office Ghada Eezedin Ahmed emphasised the importance of sustainable support for the most vulnerable populations and the need for collaboration with national and international entities to ensure a dignified life for all, achieve sustainable development goals, and promote their social inclusion.

She added that this initiative is the beginning of a series of projects and aid, in cooperation with ANPH, to empower women and men economically within this community.

ANPH Director-General Daala Said Mahmoud stated that the distribution of wheelchairs is not merely about providing tools but also about empowering beneficiaries to participate actively in society and enhancing their mobility.

He added that the blood pressure measuring devices will contribute to improving healthcare for this group.

He emphasised the importance of supporting vulnerable groups as part of a comprehensive vision to achieve social justice and sustainable development.

This assistance builds on a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Qatar Charity and ANPH in December 2024, and the collaboration, which began over a year ago.

Qatar Charity sponsors 170 people with special needs. After signing the MoU, sponsorship payment vouchers were distributed to beneficiaries

The partnership seeks to achieve several objectives, including developing programmes and initiatives that promote social inclusion, supporting education, improving healthcare services, and empowering this segment economically.

The partnership also aims to establish an inclusive infrastructure that ensures a dignified life for all beneficiaries, especially those most in need.
