DOHA: Qatar Charity has put an end to the suffering of thousands of women and children who had to travel long distances to the northern region of Ghana to receive treatment. With generous support from charitable people in Qatar, it has established a new quality health center to provide basic medical care services, as part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts on more than one level in West Africa.
The specialized health center, which was built on an area of 375 square meters, includes wings for women, children and men, and contains a maternity ward, an equipped laboratory, a pharmacy, and rooms for medical consultations, in addition to a department for isolation and medical examination, reception and waiting areas, and a special dental department equipped with the latest equipment.
High quality healthcare
The opening of the center in the Gombehini-Tamale area was attended by many executive, parliamentary, community and religious leaders, who all expressed their happiness with the medical services provided by the center to the community on the one hand, and their appreciation for Qatar Charity’s successive efforts in supporting and assisting the health sector in Ghana on the other hand.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Idrisu Abduljabaru, the Chief of Gombehini District, said that the establishment of the health center by Qatar Charity is a new chapter in the development of our community as it provides a solution to the health challenges that we have long suffered from. He added: “Many of our residents have always had to travel long distances to access medical care, subjecting them to delays that can mean the difference between life and death. Today, with this clinic in our community, we can access timely and quality healthcare services.”
Promoting maternal and child health
Meanwhile, Dr Saidu Brikiso Abubakar, the Director of Health for Tamale Central District, said the clinic set up by Qatar Charity will address many issues, including long distance travel for medical care and the pressure on our existing health facilities. She said they are now better equipped to provide essential services such as maternal and child health, disease prevention and emergency care.
Saiduexpressed her appreciation for Qatar Charity’s efforts in implementing the health center, and promised to operate it with skilled personnel to provide the highest standards of health care. She added: “Let us use this achievement as an inspiration for all of us to continue working together for a healthier and more prosperous future for our community.”
Generous support and positive impact
For his part, Ibrahim Mantla Mohammed, Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, said that Qatar Charity’s investment in the community and its generous support in establishing health centers and providing medical services will leave a lasting impact as families can now access basic health care services provided by the center without having to travel long distances as was the case before the intervention of Qatar Charity and the good people in Qatar.
