Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (Aman) has launched the electronic application (Shawreeni) to provide social, psychological and legal counseling services for women.
The app aims to facilitate the access of advice provided by Aman, especially to women. A woman or girl can seek advice through this confidential application and receive the reply within five working days through their mobile or email.
Qatar Foundation for Social Work (QFSW) CEO Amal bint Abdullatif al Mannai said the launch of the application is an important mechanism for civil society organisations for strengthening the international obligations of Qatar by activating the provisions of international conventions and charters through applied practices to achieve women empowerment.
Mannai said this application provides easy, safe and secure service and raises the level of women’s awareness of their issues, thereby enhancing their ability to overcome the challenges they face and contributing to ensuring women’s rights.
Mannai said the empowerment of women can be achieved through capacity-building.
The Qatar Foundation for Social Action strives to achieve empowerment of all target groups, an approach that is followed by all the centres affiliated to the foundation, he added.
Aman Executive Director Mansour al Saadi said the centre is keen to follow a scientific methodology in all its activities and applications where the needs of women in Qatar have been studied. The studies have proven the need for a safe application that achieves the right knowledge and enjoys independence and privacy, hence the idea of developing the application that took the work was almost six months.
Saadi said the centre is keen to meet the needs of women that suit them in terms of form and content. Through this service, women will be able to seek any number of consultations in different areas, and they will have a full reference to all their consultations.
CEO of Mada, Maha al Mansouri, said, “We believe in the rights of persons with functional limitations, including those with disabilities and the elderly, to access all information through applications and electronic services.”
Mada Center supports, develops and implements digital platforms in accordance with international standards of digital access, consultancy and capacity building of partners. Shawreeni application from the Aman Center comes as a result of cooperation in this area.
