Diogo Jota made an instant impact from the bench as Premier League leaders Liverpool hit back to claim a 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest.

Third-placed Forest had taken an eighth-minute lead through Chris Wood’s 13th goal of the season as they threatened to close to within three points of the Reds.

However Jota, who had been introduced as a 66th-minute substitute, struck after just 22 seconds when he headed his side level form a corner won by fellow newcomer Kostas Tsimikas, and it took a series of fine saves by Matz Sels to keep Arne Slot’s men out and ensure his side climbed into second.

Christian Norgaard scored a last-gasp equaliser as Brentford fought back from 2-0 down to deny Manchester City victory at Gtech Community Stadium.

Phil Foden scored a second-half brace to give the champions control but ultimately that proved insufficient to extend their three-game winning run.

Yoane Wissa pulled a goal back with eight minutes remaining, but it was Norgaard who ensured Pep Guardiola’s men had to settle for a point from a 2-2 draw.

Reece James’ stoppage time free-kick rescued a 2-2 draw for Chelsea as Bournemouth threatened to leave Stamford Bridge with all three points.

The home side looked beaten and could have had few complaints had Antoine Semenyo’s sensational strike midway through the second half turned out to have been the winner.

Chelsea had scored early through Cole Palmer but then wasted chances to kill the game off and saw Justin Kluivert level from the penalty spot before Semenyo’s sweet strike set the stage for James’ heroics in the fifth minute of added time.

Graham Potter had a night to remember as West Ham beat Fulham 3-2 in his first home game in charge.

Goals from Carlos Soler, Tomas Soucek and Lucas Paqueta secured a first Premier League victory for former Brighton and Chelsea boss Potter, who had had just three training sessions with his players after taking over from the sacked Julen Lopetegui last week.

Alex Iwobi kept the visitors in it with two goals either side of Paqueta’s strike but the Hammers managed to hang on to claim the points.
