The Qatar Aeronautical Academy (QAA) and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Rwanda signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aiming at strengthening relations between the two countries in the field of technical training by providing specialised training services in aircraft maintenance by the QAA.

Witnessed by Minister of Transport His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani, the MoU was signed in the Ministry’s offices by QAA Director General Sheikh Jabor bin Hamad Al-Thani and the Permanent Secretary of the Rwandan Ministry of Defence Major-General Celestin Kanyamahanga.

The MoU also includes training Rwandan Air Force aircraft maintenance technicians according to the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) standards, and providing mechanical and electronic engineering training through rigorous theoretical and practical programmes.

This collaboration stems from the commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships between Qatar and Rwanda, contributing to the development of the Rwandan Air Force’s capabilities and the exchange of technical expertise between the two parties.

The signing ceremony took place following a meeting earlier on Thursday between HE Sheikh Mohammed and Kanyamahanga where they discussed bilateral cooperation in areas of civil aviation and ways to enhance them, particularly training pilots and technicians.
