DOHA: Minister of Environment and Climate Change HE Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie has stressed that the research vessel 'Janan'represents a vital tool to support marine research, praising the advanced technical level of the vessel and the qualitative studies conducted on board.

This came during the minister's visit to Janan, which is one of the most prominent scientific platforms specialized in the field of marine research in the region. The visit comes within the framework of the ongoing efforts to support scientific research and enhance cooperation between national institutions.

The ministerwas accompanied during the visit by the Undersecretary of the Ministry and a number of senior officials from the Ministry, where they were received by Dr Omar Mohammed Al Ansari, President of Qatar University, and Dr Ayman Arbad, Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies, in addition to a number of senior university officials and specialists in environmental research.

During his visit to the ship, Dr Al Subaie praised the research efforts made by Qatar University in the field of environmental sciences, stressing the importance of enhancing cooperation between the Ministry and the University to achieve the objectives of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change’s strategy aimed at developing innovative solutions to preserve the environment.

During the visit, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change was briefed on a detailed presentation on the ship’s capabilities, including the advanced field equipment it contains, such as modern equipment for measuring the physical and chemical properties of marine water and soil, and the techniques used to study marine biodiversity.

The visit also included a field tour of the ship’s laboratories, which are equipped with the latest scientific equipment, where the mechanisms for conducting field experiments and analyzing environmental samples were reviewed, with a focus on research related to protecting the Qatari marine environment and ensuring its sustainability.
