DOHA: The ceasefire in the Gaza Strip will begin at 8.30am on Sunday, January 19, local time in Gaza,Advisor to the Prime Minister and official Spokesperson for Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Majed Al Ansari has said.
In a post on his official social media platform X, Dr Ansari added, "We advise the inhabitants to take precaution, exercise the utmost caution, and wait for directions from official sources."
Earlier on Saturday, the Israeli government ratified the ceasefire agreement, declared by the mediator Qatar on Wednesday evening.
Under the deal, the ceasefire starts with an initial six-week phase where captives in Gaza are released in exchange for Palestinians detained in Israeli jails, and which opens the way to ending the 15-month-old war.
