ISHAL NILAVU, a unique concert organised by Mediaplus, a local advertising and event management company, enthralled the audience at Ashoka Hall of the Indian Cultural Centre recently.
The concert featured presentations of old and new Mappila songs (Muslim songs from Kerala), upholding the values of fraternity, equality and harmony.
Fr Severios Thomas, a Christian scholar who is well known for rendering Mappila songs, was the star attraction of the event. He presented a number of evergreen Mappila songs and urged community members to live harmoniously.
Others who regaled the audience with their performances were award winning singer Shammer Chavakkad, playback singer Mansoor Ibrahim, Riyas Kariyad, Hamdan Hamza and Asia Ashfal. The orchestra was led by Latheef Mahe and the presentation by RJ Ratheesh.
The organisers also honoured Fr Severios Thomas on the occasion with the Paramount Music Award for his efforts to boost social harmony using music.
PK Mustafa, managing director of PK Group, was also honoured for his humanitarian services while Jerome Jenny was presented the Best Footballer award.
ICC president AP Manikantan and ICBF president PN Baburajan presented all the awards. Mediaplus CEO Dr Amanulla Vadakkangara chaired the function.
Others who attended the event were Star Kitchen Equipment Group Managing Director PM Abdul Salam, Azym Technologies CEO Shafeeq, Dr M.P.Shafi Haji and Jenny Antony.
