At least two Palestinians have been killed by Israeli tank fire in the Tal as-Sultan neighbourhood, west of Rafah in southern Gaza, the enclave’s Civil Defence officials said.
The Israeli military said it was looking into the report of the attack, the Reuters news agency said on Thursday.
The attack comes after Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire that took effect on Sunday. The initial phase is scheduled to last six weeks and involves a limited prisoner-captive exchange, the partial withdrawal of Israeli troops in Gaza and a surge of aid into the enclave. Al Jazeera reported that more than 3,200 aid trucks have entered Gaza during the first four days of the ceasefire.
