OCCUPIED JERUSALEM: Thousands of Palestinians have performed Friday prayers at Al Aqsa Mosque, amid strict military measures imposed by the occupation authorities on access to the mosque.

The Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem reported that about 50,000 people performed Friday prayers in the Al Aqsa Mosque.

The Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) confirmed that the occupation forces obstructed the arrival of worshippers to Al Aqsa Mosque to perform prayers, and arrested a number of young men and prevented them from entering the mosque.

Since the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip came into effect last Sunday, the Israeli occupation has tightened its military measures in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, by installing barriers and iron gates at the entrances to Palestinian villages and cities.
