Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich bounced back from a mid-week defeat with a 2-1 win at Freiburg on Saturday, while Borussia Dortmund started life without coach Nuri Sahin playing with 10 men in a 2-2 draw with Werder Bremen.

Champions Bayer Leverkusen, meanwhile, fell to a 2-2 draw at RB Leipzig.

With the results, Bayern extended their lead ahead of second-placed Leverkusen to six points, while Dortmund, led by interim coach Mike Tullberg, remained 10th.

Elsewhere, Augsburg defeated Heidenheim 2-1 and VfB Stuttgart lost 2-0 at Mainz. Later on Saturday, Borussia Mönchengladbach host VfL Bochum.

Bayern unstoppable in the Bundesliga Bayern’s plans to reach direct qualification to the Champions League last 16 have become more difficult after a 3-0 defeat at Feyenoord on Wednesday.

But at least in the Bundesliga, they remained on a positive run of four wins in four matches this year.

England captain Harry Kane put Bayern ahead in the 15th minute after he saw off Philipp Lienhart with a sensational turn and hammered the ball between the posts.

Defender Minjae Kim increased their lead in the 54th, completing a corner from Joshua Kimmich with a header into the net.

Freiburg pulled one back in the 68th through Matthias Ginter, but that was not enough to spark a comeback.

Wirtz not enough to secure win for Leverkusen Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz assisted Patrik Schick in the 19th and then Aleix Garcia in the 36th to help Leverkusen take a 2-0 lead against Leipzig.

But David Raum pulled one back for the hosts in the 41st to put them back in the came.

The equalizer eventually came in the 85th and only after a video review. Xavi Simon’s set-piece into the box was deflected by Edmond Tapsoba into the top corner. The goal was initially ruled out, but VAR said it was good.

Dortmund still in trouble after Sahin’s departure Dortmund dismissed coach Sahin mid-week, following the Champions League defeat to Bologna, but their poor form continued.

They played with 10 men for most of the game against Bremen after Nico Schlotterbeck was sent off in the 21st as he was adjudged to have prevented a clear goalscoring opportunity with a foul on Marvin Ducksch on the edge of he area.

It looked like they could still have a good day as Serhou Guirassy and Marco Friedl’s own goal gave them a 2-0 lead before the hour mark. But Bremen fought back and equalized thanks to Leonardo Bittencourt and Marvin Ducksch.

Dortmund are yet to win a Bundesliga game this year, with three defeats and one draw in four matches so far.

They also still need to find a new coach, with top candidates Niko Kovac and Roger Schmidt saying earlier this week they are not interested in the job.
