THE Department of Mechanical Equipment at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, represented by its Transport section, in coordination with Doha Municipality, carried out an inspection campaign in March to seize abandoned vehicles. This led to the removal of 58 abandoned cars during the month. Altogether 119 vehicles were found abandoned within Doha Municipality.
Wakra Municipality shuts restaurant
The Department of Health Supervision at Al Wakra Municipality carried out a total 420 inspections of food facilities in the municipality last month. A restaurant was shut down after its foodstuffs were found unfit for human consumption. The restaurant was also found guilty of 11 other violations of which nine were reconciled. A total of 270kgs of foodstuffs were also destroyed for being unfit for human consumption.
Shop shut down in Al Khor
The Department of Health Control at the Al Khor and Al-Thakhira Municipality conducted inspection raids on various food establishments, restaurants and food stores last month, which led to the closure of a shop. The department also discovered 1,290 sheep and 430 cow carcasses of which 32 sheep and cattle carcasses unfit for human consumption were destroyed. The inspection campaign led to the release of 14 illegal seizure records. The campaign aims to ensure the safety of food for consumers and ensure that shops adhere to the laws on human food.
Hygiene awareness drive in schools
The hygiene awareness team of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment organised three field visits to kindergartens last week aimed at raising awareness of the hygiene law among students.
The team explained the law in simplified terms through presentation of explanatory videos and holding colouring competitions. Colouring books were distributed to children at the end of the event.
70 school children visit nursery
As part of its efforts to educate children on the importance of plants, the Public Parks Department of the MME received 70 students. The students visited the nursery of the Public Parks Department and learnt about agriculture, irrigation and plant care.
