Qatar Chamber hosted a high-level Turkish delegation representing the Istanbul Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters Association to discuss avenues for enhancing collaboration in the metals industry. The meeting aimed to foster stronger ties between Qatari and Turkish businessmen in this vital sector.

Speaking at the event, Noora Al-Awlan, director of research and studies at Qatar Chamber, underscored the robust relations between Qatar and Turkey. She highlighted the significant progress made in bilateral trade, which reached QR4.75 billion in 2023. Al-Awlan emphasized the extensive mutual investments across diverse sectors and reiterated Turkey’s status as a key trade partner for Qatar.

“This meeting provides an excellent platform to promote trade and facilitate joint projects and partnerships between Qatari and Turkish companies,” Al-Awlan said. She also reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to bolstering collaboration among business communities from both countries.

Mohamed Al-Fateh, commercial attaché at the Turkish Embassy in Qatar, highlighted the close-knit ties between the two nations, particularly in commercial and economic domains. He expressed optimism about expanding mutual investments and strengthening bilateral relations.

“This delegation includes representatives from 13 companies eager to explore investment opportunities in Qatar and establish meaningful partnerships with their Qatari counterparts,” Al Fateh stated.

Ebru Kutlualp, chief of metals industry development at the Istanbul Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters Association, presented an overview of the association’s activities and services. She highlighted the extensive opportunities for collaboration with Qatar, noting that the association’s exports are primarily distributed across the European Union.

“Our objective is to expand into the Middle East, particularly Qatar, as part of our strategic growth plan,”Kutlualp said.

The meeting underscored the mutual interest in leveraging Qatar’s dynamic business environment and Turkey’s expertise in the metals industry. Both sides agreed to explore joint ventures, enhance knowledge exchange, and promote sustainable development in the sector.

The discussions reflected the shared vision of deepening Qatar-Turkey economic ties and underscored the importance of continued collaboration to unlock new opportunities for growth and innovation in the metals industry.
