Al Abdulghani Motors proudly announced the launch of Toyota GR Yaris Cup Qatar 2025, the first-ever racing championship of its kind in Qatar. Following its successful debut in Kuwait in 2023, this highly anticipated event now accelerates to Qatar, marking a significant milestone in Al Abdulghani Motors’ journey into motorsports. The season will kick off at Lusail International Circuit on 30th and 31st January 2025.

Supported by Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), certified by the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF), and in collaboration with Suffix Events, the Toyota GR Yaris Cup Qatar is designed to cultivate a vibrant motorsports culture in Qatar while showcasing the country’s growing presence in the global motorsports arena.

The Toyota GR Yaris Cup Qatar 2025 will feature 10 accomplished drivers from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Italy, India, and Jordan, each competing in the high-performance GR Yaris vehicles, custom-branded with their sponsor’s identity. This wheel-to-wheel championship will test the drivers’ skill, strategy, and endurance through a series of thrilling day and night races.

Ahead of the championship, Al Abdulghani Motors hosted an exclusive sponsors’ event at Qatar Racing Club to celebrate its partners and unveil the GR Yaris lineup. The event featured a raffle draw, which paired each driver with one of the sponsors. The sponsors included Qatar National Bank (QNB), Ooredoo, Al Araby 2/Winwin, Chedid Insurance Brokers, I Love Qatar (ILQ), Qatar Living, IPrint, ENEOS/QALCO, Moteri Autocare Center, and Al Abdulghani Motors.

The championship consists of four different rounds from January to April 2025, including a special Grand Championship where teams from Qatar and Kuwait will go head-to-head in a thrilling faceoff at Kuwait Motor Town.

At the heart of this championship is the GR Yaris, a rally-inspired hatchback engineered with Toyota Gazoo Racing’s motorsports expertise. Equipped with a 3-cylinder turbocharged 1.6L engine delivering 272 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque, this all-wheel drive machine is built for performance and precision.

Beyond the excitement of the championship, Al Abdulghani Motors aims to highlight the importance of eco-friendly hybrid technology in advancing the automotive industry toward carbon neutrality and the creation of ever-better cars. The event also showcases how hybrid electric vehicles can excel in motorsports, reaffirming Toyota’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. This commitment is further emphasized in international events such as the World Endurance Championship (WEC), scheduled to take place at Lusail International Circuit at the end of February 2025.

As part of its commitment to fostering a vibrant automotive culture, Al Abdulghani Motors also participated in the Qatar Custom Show, held at Qatar Racing Club, where it showcased all 10 sponsors, and their custom vehicle wraps to the public.

Speaking at the event, Firas Mufti, Head of the Motorsports at Al Abdulghani Motors, said: “The GR Yaris is the ideal vehicle to unite talented drivers from across the region for an exhilarating display of skill and innovation. Building on the success of the Toyota GR Yaris Cup in Kuwait, we are excited to bring this thrilling championship to Qatar and contribute to the development of a vibrant motorsports’ scene in the country”.

Mufti also added: “The Toyota GR Yaris Cup represents more than just a race; it symbolizes the fusion of cutting-edge technology and driver expertise. With its remarkable handling, power and agility, the Toyota GR Yaris is the perfect vehicle to bring together some of the most talented drivers from across the region”.

Toyota’s commitment to continuous innovation and excellence is reflected in its belief that “the roads build the people, and the people build the cars.”

Motorsports is a cornerstone of this vision, driving technological advancements and creating “ever-better cars” that benefit both enthusiasts and everyday drivers.
