Galfar Al Misnad, boosted by Kamran Khan’s superb half-century, crushed Tusker Club by eight wickets in a rain-truncated Premier Division in the Qatar Airways Cricket Tournament.
Other match of the day between Commercial Bank Qatar and Al Feroz Youngsters was abandoned.
Qatar Airways is proud to be the official sponsor of the annual Qatar Cricket Tournament. As the country’s national carrier, Qatar Airways continues to play a vital role in enhancing the already flourishing sports activities in Qatar and is a keen supporter for developing the next generation of local cricket players.
Rain forced the match to be reduced to 20 overs a side from a 50-over affair due to wet outfield. After Tusker Club decided to bat first after winning the toss, their decision backfired and they were shot out for 111 in 19 overs.
Khurram Shahzad (three for 13) and Sammy put the rivals under a lot of stress as they grabbed five wickets between them, making batting quite difficult for Tusker Club. Sanu was the highest scorer with 34 in 27 balls, including five boundaries. Shakir added 11 off 13 balls.
Galfar Al Misnad then chased the target with fluent batting and secured the win in 16.2 overs with eight wickets intact. Kamran Khan smashed four sixes and four boundaries to collect 59 off 51 balls. Malik hit 30 with two boundaries, facing 42 balls. Nawaf and Bipin shared the wickets to fall.
Kamran Khan was declared the match of the match.
