Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani and Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion of Oman HE Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef inaugurated the Oman-Qatar Economic Forum in Muscat.
The forum took place on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, on the sidelines of the visit of His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Oman.
The forum witnessed significant participation from top businessmen, investors, and leaders of major Qatari and Omani companies across various industries.
It aimed to enhance trade, investment, and industrial cooperation between the two countries while unlocking new opportunities for the Qatari and Omani private sectors to establish investment projects in mutually beneficial sectors. This initiative serves as a crucial step in expanding bilateral cooperation and creating new investment prospects that would yield economic and commercial benefits for both nations.
In his opening speech, Sheikh Faisal emphasised the strong ties between Qatar and Oman, underscoring the shared history and deep-rooted relationship between their peoples. He highlighted the significant development in bilateral relations, facilitated by mutual official visits and the commitment of both leaderships to strengthen partnerships and foster investment opportunities.
He also noted that the forum provides an essential platform for fostering dialogue between the public and private sectors, stimulating partnerships, and encouraging mutual investments. He pointed out that trade exchange between Qatar and Oman had exceeded $1.8 billion by the end of 2024.
He encouraged Omani businessmen and investors to capitalise on Qatar’s unique business and investment environment, which offers promising opportunities in key sectors aligned with Qatar’s National Development Strategy. The forum highlighted the advantages of the business environment in both countries and explored ways to enhance cooperation across different sectors.
It featured several dialogue sessions focused on themes such as “A Shared Future Vision for Industrial and Logistics Integration between Qatar and Oman,” “Tourism and Hospitality Towards Sustainability: Enhancing Tourism and Hospitality Prospects between Qatar and Oman,” and “Technology and Digital Services: Towards an Integrated Digital Economy between Qatar and Oman.”
Additionally, bilateral meetings were held between representatives from the Qatari and Omani private sectors to explore new avenues of cooperation, exchange expertise, and establish investment partnerships in mutually beneficial industries.
On the sidelines of the forum, Sheikh Faisal engaged in discussions with Al Yousef regarding various topics of mutual interest, focusing on enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, and industry.
