QNA DohaThe Protection and Social Rehabilitation Centre (AMAN) on Tuesday launched a week-long awareness campaign for women, children and victims of domestic violence. The campaign was held at one of Doha’s shopping malls to educate them on its 919 Hotline service.The centre, part of Qatar Social Work Foundation, said the campaign seeks to disseminate awareness and education that promote the protection and social rehabilitation to reduce domestic violence and reintegrate the affected victims within society through informing about any violence against the targeted categories, and offering needed protection via specialised and highly professional cadres who can accurately monitor initial diagnostic indicators and statistics as well as documenting required data and answering inquiries.AMAN’s Head of Hotlines and Support Department Reem Al Sendi said the centre was keen to raise the awareness of parents and the targeted groups of the 919 hotline, stressing her confidence that the campaign would reduce all forms of violence.Sendi added that the targeted groups can access AMAN through the hotline or other channels, including the centre’s related offices at the Public Prosecution, Children’s Emergency Department at Sidra Medicine, Al Wakra Hospital, Hamad General Hospital, AMMAN main headquarters as well as AMMAN social media accounts and smartphones apps.AMMAN Technical Production Director Maha Al Mannai said the targeted groups can reach the centre by calling the 919 Hotline, which is available round the clock to apply for social protection and consultative, social, legal and psychological services.She stressed the centre was keen to cooperate with all relevant organisations to achieve the objectives of women and child protection, adding that some foreign languages were incorporated within their service in a bid to cover all residents nationwide, particularly with FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 drawing near.Among the languages used by the centre are French, Portuguese, Spanish, Urdu which is widely spoken in southwestern Asia like India, Pakistan and Iran; Tagalog, the Philippines’ official language; Mandarin as well as Arabic and language.
