Ahmed al Shammari added another gold medal to his kitty in the Amir Cup Shooting and Archery Championships at the Losail Ranges on Saturday.
He dominated the 25m Centre Fire Pistol and shot 572 (12x) to win the title, beating Ali Hassan Morshed, who had only 552 with nine shots in the bull’s eye. This was the fourth gold medal of the event for Shammari.
Shammari commented after the prize distribution. “This is my fourth gold medal of the Amir Cup this year. I am extremely delighted at the high level I am shooting right now. I always make efforts to excel in the pistol category and my hard work is paying me in terms of the success.
“I want to thank the organising team and the QSAA for hosting this event. This championship gives us an opportunity to assess ourselves and I feel I am ready for any challenges,” Shammari added.
Mohammed Hasan al Tamimi grabbed the bronze medal when as he posted 545 (7x), edging Misfer Rashid al Marri barely by a point.
Aldana Saad al Mubarak also excelled in the 25m Pistol for women and claimed the title with 31 points. She shot eight more than Nasra Mohamed Mahmoud, who managed only 23. The bronze medal was won by Souad Waleed al Khater with 12 hits.
Qatar Shooting and Archery Association officials Abdullah Ali al Mutawa al Hammadi, Alanoud Matar al Nuaimi and Nawal al Sulaiti gave away the prizes.
QSAA technical expert Gennady Solodovnikov informed that the competition in the Amir Cup will resume now on April 18 (Thursday).
