Princess Dana Firas, UNESCO Global Ambassador and President of Petra National Trust, visited the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) and Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) on Wednesday for a tour of the museums’ facilities and immersive galleries.
During her visit at the NMoQ, Princess Dana was welcomed by Director of the National Museum of Qatar Sheikha Amna al Thani, who introduced her to the museum’s collection.
Princess Dana toured different galleries of the museum that display various stages of the geological formation of the Qatar Peninsula and its natural surroundings, petroglyphs and monuments in the archaeological sites, and the lives of the people of Qatar on land and coasts, as well as the digital gallery.
At the MIA, Princess Dana was briefed by the museum’s Director Dr Julia Gonnella on ‘Syria Matters’ expo.
She toured the various sections and wings of the museum.
She viewed the museum’s collection which embraces masterpieces of Islamic art, including metal, wooden, porcelain, jewellery, textiles and glass.
The princess also saw artefacts collected from three continents dating back to 14 centuries.
Princess Dana received a brief about the MIA, its establishment phases, its role in spreading science and culture and encouraging creativity and communication about the world’s cultures and arts.
