Princess Dina Mired of Jordan, who is also president of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), visited Qatar Cancer Society recently. She was received by QCS Chairman Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Jabor al Thani and other QCS officials.
The Jordanian princess toured different sections of the society as well as the Ooredoo Cancer Awareness Centre and was briefed on QCS’ programnmes to raise community awareness of the disease.
Princess Dina Mired praised QCS’ role in raising awareness of cancer among different sections of society and its efforts to promote a culture of regular screening for early detection of the disease. Besides, she lauded the support extended by QCS to people living with cancer.
On his part, Dr Sheikh Khalid thanked Princess Dina Mired for her visit and praised her efforts as UICC president.
Dr Khalid introduced the princess to the activities of QCS, highlighting the role played by the society in spreading awareness in the community and reiterating its commitment to continue efforts aimed at prevention of cancer by working with its partners.
