A delegation from Argentina comprising of representatives from 12 companies specialised in foodstuffs, agriculture, livestock, fodder, hospitality and other sectors visited Qatar Chamber on Monday.
The delegation was headed by Under Secretary of Agro-industrial Markets in the Ministry of Production and Labor of the Argentine Republic HE Pedro Vigneau.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador of Argentina to Qatar HE Carlos Hernandez as well as a number of Qatari businessmen and representatives of local companies specialized in these sectors.
Addressing the meeting, Qatar Chambers First Vice Chairman, Mohammad bin Ahmad bin Twar al Kuwari said that Qatar and Argentina enjoy good economic and commercial relations, noting that their bilateral trade volume reached $335 mn last year
He underscored the importance of HH the Amir’s visit to Latin America last year including Argentina which stressed HH’s interest to expand Qatar’s economic and political relations and its strategic partnerships with Argentina.
Twar said that this visit has contributed to strengthening cooperation relations of both countries and ended with signing of a number of economic, sports, social and cultural agreements. He invited Qatari investors to explore business and investment opportunities available in Argentine which is an important partner in the Latin continent which is close to Arab world and a good supporter for its issues.
He stressed Qatar Chamber’s interest to build more cooperation relations between Qatari companies and their counterparts from Argentina, especially in light of the attractive investment climate and business opportunities available in Qatar.
Ambassador of Argentina to Qatar HE Carlos Hernandez said that Amir’s visit has helped in establishing distinct relations, noting that Qatari investments in Argentina are important and there is interest to develop and grow these investments. HE Pedro Vigneau said that there is a strong desire toward enhancing commercial relations with the Qatari side.
He delivered a presentation about Argentinean exports and sectors in which private sectors in both countries can cooperate. Vigneau said that Argentine attached a special interest to exports and productivity as well as streamlining customs procedures, improving the market and simplifying fund transfer. He noted that 60% of exports are from agricultural products, pointing out that his country produced 45 mntons of grain.
