His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif held talks at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday morning.The Amir wished the prime minister and the accompanying delegation a pleasant stay in Qatar while welcoming them.The Amir stressed the importance of the brotherly and strategic relations between the two countries and of enhancing the economic partnership by strengthening trade and promoting investments.In a related development, the Qatar Investment Authority has pledged to invest $3 billion in the various commercial and investment sectors in Pakistan."Today, I discussed with the prime minister of Pakistan prospects for strengthening the strong and historical relations between our two brotherly countries in various fields, and we also discussed the latest regional and international developments and ways to coordinate our joint efforts to support security and stability in our region and the world,” the Amir tweeted after the meeting on Wednesday.For his part, the Pakistan PM expressed his gratitude to the Amir for the warm reception and hospitality, expressing keenness to strengthen relations to achieve common aspirations and develop them to broader horizons and multiple fields.During the talks, the two sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to support and develop them in the fields of defence, economy, investment, trade, energy, and sports, in addition to discussing the most prominent regional and international developments of common interest, especially the efforts made by the two countries to combat terrorism.From the Qatari side, the session was attended by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs HE Dr Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Chief of the Amiri Diwan HE Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Minister of Finance HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Transport HE Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti and Minister of State for Energy Affairs HE Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi.The Pakistani delegation included Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Minister of Finance and Revenue Miftah Ismail, Minister of Economic Affairs Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Minister of State for Petroleum Musadik Masood Malik, Minister of Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique, Minister of Commerce Syed Naveed Qamar and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar as well as other delegates.The Amir hosted a luncheon in honour of the Pakistani prime minister, who was accorded an official reception upon his arrival at the Amiri Diwan.
