THE Social Development Center (NAMA), in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), recently held training for the second batch of Fostering Life Skills and Citizenship course.
The programme, which was attended by 26 young men and women, comes within the framework of the cooperation protocol that was signed and ratified between the NAMA Center and the UNFPA.
The training for the first batch of the course was held last February. The course is part of a series of programmes and periodic workshops organised by the centre to provide the youth with the necessary skills and develop their abilities to realise Qatar National Vision 2030.
The Fostering Life Skills and Citizenship programme targets young men and women aged between 13 and 24 years and between 25-45 years.
The programme seeks to stimulate the participants’ ambitions and aspirations and develop their capabilities and creativity in order to build a generation of effective and enterprising leaders, who can contribute to the country’s prosperity.
It is based mainly on motivating and supporting youth and making them a leading contributor. It includes a number of activities such as providing trainees with a complete knowledge of the contents of the Life Skills and Citizenship Enhancement Guide for use in the training of trainers. The trainers will also be granted an accredited trainer certificate from the UNFPA and the NAMA Center.
In this regard, Mariam al Mannai, director of Community Services, said: “At NAMA Center, we work to develop and hone the capabilities and talents of our youth by providing them with all the opportunities and activities that can contribute to the sculpting of their future and paving the way for them to be empowered and become pioneers. This programme is in line with the third Human Development Report of the State of Qatar, which stated the importance of understanding the challenges and opportunities facing our youth to enable them to contribute to the progress of Qatar toward achieving a knowledge economy.”
