DOHA Academy (Al Waab) celebrated its 20th anniversary and two decades of educational excellence on Sunday in the presence of noted entrepreneur Sheikh Faleh bin Nawaf al Thani.
The school hosted Saad al Dosari and Akram Afif, the two stars of Qatar’s national football team, and also organised fun activities for students.
Students got a chance to meet and demonstrate their football skills before the stars. The students also received an invitation to attend the match between Al Sadd Sports Club and Al-Ahli Saudi as part of the AFC Champions League.
Besides, the events included array of entertainment activities including watching movies, playing board games, face painting, henna painting, balloon popping, table tennis, bouncy castle etc.
Dr Sheikha Aisha bint Faleh al Thani, chairperson and founder of Al Faleh Educational Holding which runs Doha Academy, said: "We aim to make every day a valuable learning experience, not just by delivering excellent education to students, but also by encouraging them to participate fully in the life of the academy. Students and staff have earned this celebration for their hard work in this academic year. We believe that schools should be happy, purposeful communities where children are encouraged to achieve their best spiritually, morally, socially, intellectually and physically.’’
Graeme M Garrett, head of Doha Academy schools and principal, said "The Celebration Day was an excellent example of the community spirit here at the academy with students and staff coming together to celebrate the achievements of our students. It was wonderful to see students and staff interacting away from the normal classroom experience.”
