QATAR Charity (QC) has allocated QR17.2mn for its Ramadan projects in Qatar, which are expected to benefit approximately 700,000 people throughout the Holy Month.
Qatar Charity implements many projects and programmes in Qatar throughout the Holy Month, which include iftar meals, Zakat al-Fitr, gifts, Eid clothing, cultural programmes and competitions. It carries out its Ramadan activities in cooperation with youth initiatives, community organisations and private companies.
It provides iftar meals mainly to workers and members of expatriate communities, and distributes Zakat al-Fitr and Eid clothing to low-income families. It also gives Eid gifts to orphans whom it sponsors within the country.
This year, QC has spread 45 iftar tables at the cost of QR10 million, benefiting more than 350,000 people in 36 areas of Qatar. Through the ‘Mobile Iftar for workers’, Qatar Charity provides meals to workers at their places in industrial areas, Al Khor and other places where they live. The project is expected to benefit 39,000 workers at the cost of more than QR700,000 during Ramadan.
The Ramadan Supply project provides essential foodstuffs for the month of Ramadan to families with limited income. The project valued at nearly QR1.5mn is expected to benefit 10,000 people, while the ‘Mobile Iftar’ involves distribution of snacks to drivers who are not able to reach their homes to break their fast. The distribution of iftar meals is carried out in many places, including Hamad Hospital, benefiting 15,000 people.
As usual, Qatar Charity is implementing a project entitled ‘Baraha’ for many Asian communities residing in Qatar during Ramadan, with the aim of enhancing interaction and cohesion among their members. Some 7,500 persons are expected to benefit from Baraha throughout the month.
Qatar Charity is also implementing the ‘From Home to Home’ project to provide iftar meals to low-income families on a daily basis, benefiting 6,000 people throughout the Holy Month. The charity is also providing water bottles for congregations at many mosques during Taraweeh and night prayers, in cooperation with the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs.
Qatar Charity is also implementing the Al-Aqraboon for the fourth consecutive year during Ramadan in cooperation with several media figures, social activists and social media influencers.
