DPS Modern Indian School (DPS-MIS) recently organised an "Investiture Ceremony” to induct 58 elected students, including head boy Faiz Asim Mohinuddin and head girl Advaita Nair, into the senior school "Prefectorial Body” for 2019-2020.
Ooredoo Qatar’s Manager (Enterprise Risk Management) Noora Abdulrahman Fakhroo was the chief guest of the event held on April 30. It was attended by DPS-MIS Vice President Yasir Nainar, members of the executive committee and other dignitaries.
In her welcome address, Principal Asna Nafees said the real purpose of education was not to achieve academic excellence but to foster life-skills.
Citing the example of Qatar’s response to the Saudi-led economic boycott and the proactive measures initiated by the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, she encouraged the young office bearers to be role models both in action and behaviour.
Addressing the Prefectorial Body members, Fakhroo said leadership was not about title or designation but impact, influence and inspiration. She said motivated young leaders exhibit best leadership skills and harness utmost courage to turn adversities into opportunities.
Yasir Nainar advised the prefects to be exemplary leaders by following the values and ideals, and perform their duties with responsibility, dedication, alertness and enthusiasm.
‘Grandeur’, DPS-MIS yearly magazine, a mirror of its achievements and activities, was also released by the distinguished guests.
