The event was held on August 22 online on Microsoft Teams. The event’s objective was to interview a professional shoutcaster and eSports Desk Host on casting in general and the journeys of the athletes she spoke with. Sam Wright was interviewed in order to learn more about her experience teaching others about the global eSports scene and the challenges she overcame to pursue her career.Noora Nasser Al-Thani, female president of the QU eSports Club, said, “Hosting a well-known eSports shoutcaster personality was a privilege. We learned a lot about the duties of a shoutcaster. She provided us an amusing illustration of how she must differentiate between work and enjoyment. Typically, she doesn’t play the games she hosts for fun. She also discussed how other people in the industry have made decisions and how she was able to balance her undergraduate life with eSports-related activities. Overall, having such a fantastic figure from the world of eSports with us for the event was an honour.”Adra Maharani Salsabila, female vice-president of the QU eSports club, said, “Being able to interview Sam Wright was a pleasure. It was a really in depth and eye-opening interview in which we understood what it means to be an eSports shoutcaster. Furthermore, getting to know Sam’s personality, background, and experience was very fascinating as she walked us through anecdotes from her life, as well as how she felt throughout. Sam was very engaging, informed and relatable, and her answers were clear and expressed interest in the QU eSports club’s future growth.”Sam Wright stated, “I would like to travel to Qatar. I’m hoping that when I come to your club the following time, you’ll be hosting competitions so I can stop by and check it out. I would adore that.” She also offered ideas on how we could support the development of the nation’s eSports scene. “Use your club to interact with, perhaps, younger students who haven’t started college,” she advised. “Find ways to connect with them and introduce them to eSports and gaming. I believe that would be a fun way for gaming and eSports to develop in Qatar.”
