An SUV that got stuck in the mud has been seized for violating a statute protecting Qatar’s plant ecology, weeks after a truck that was similarly stranded was taken into custody.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change on Friday said the SUV violated Law No. 32 of 1995.

The location of the area has not been made public but it is described by the ministry as important to preserving Qatar’s wild flora.

The seizure was made by the ministry’s Environmental Monitoring Patrols.

Necessary legal measures have been taken following the violation of the law, the ministry added.

The ministry called on the public not to drive vehicles in areas of natural plant environments, including meadows and reserves, and to use paved roads instead in order to protect the environment of Qatar.
