Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) has partnered with Chinese technology giant Huawei in a deal that will help attract more visitors from the world’s fastest-growing visitor source market.
The partnership saw a Huawei camera crew visiting Qatar to capture iconic and historic attractions across the country using the Huawei P30 Pro. The breathtaking images can now be used as wallpaper on Huawei phones. Huawei also will promote videos taken by Huawei P30 Pro in Qatar through their online channels such as Huawei APP, social media and other video platforms, giving images of Qatar significant exposure to Chinese consumers.
At the same time, Huawei is opening a Qatar-themed store in Shanghai for two weeks to translate the online marketing campaign into a live experience for Huawei customers. The store decorated in Qatari style offers Arabic coffee and dates, a display of the desert rose found in Qatar and other artistic displays of the country’s culture. Videos taken in Qatar by Huawei P30 Pro, as well as QNTC’s campaign video, ‘Qatar…Qurated For You’ can be watched on screens in the store.
Rashed al Qurese, chief marketing officer at QNTC, commented, “The collaboration between QNTC and Huawei helps us gain further reach within the Chinese market. We’re excited to leverage the company’s expertise in Chinese consumer engagement to showcase Qatar through virtual imagery and deepen understanding of Qatar as a destination that welcomes Chinese visitors.” QNTC opened representative offices in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Chengdu in 2017, which carry out marketing and outreach programmes tailored to the Chinese market. This, combined with Qatar Airways flights from six cities in mainland China, as well as visa-free entry for Chinese citizens visiting Qatar, has helped make Qatar an increasingly attractive travel destination for Chinese tourists. As a result, 2018 saw Chinese tourist arrivals to Qatar increase by 38 percent over the previous year.
The highly anticipated Huawei P30 line-up is now official as the Chinese tech giant unveiled its two flagships for the first half of the year. With the Huawei P30 and Huawei P30 Pro, the company is planning on rewriting the rules of photography.
