Hyatt Plaza Mall recently organised emergency evacuation drill to guarantee a safe and secure shopping environment for the tenants and shoppers.
To increase awareness for safety and security among tenants and customers, Hyatt Plaza displayed its world-class safety standards and emergency preparedness through a complete mock evacuation drill in coordination with the General Directorate of Civil Defence.
Following the activation of the fire alarm system, civil defence teams and ambulance crews worked in conjunction with Hyatt Plaza Mall management team to carry out the evacuation drill, evacuating all the persons present at the mall, including staff, tenants and shoppers, in just five minutes.
During the process, fire attentiveness, delivering the fire safety plan, fire warden responsibilities, general evacuation procedure plans and after any emergency procedures were all reviewed.
As part of the evacuation drill, tenants and shoppers were guided by mall management personnel via the identified emergency escape routes and fire exits which would be utilised in the case of a real emergency situation and then guided safely to designated assembly points around Hyatt Plaza premises.
CEO of Hyatt Plaza Mall Feroz Moideen said, “Hyatt Plaza Mall management would like to thank the General Directorate of Civil Defence for supporting us in carrying out this important exercise. Hyatt Plaza Mall takes very seriously its responsibility in ensuring that its staff, tenants and visitors’ safety is the utmost priority. Carrying out such exercises does not only give confidence to our team, but also acts as a reassurance to our visitors.”
He added, “Carrying out such exercises enables our team to understand more about the actions that should be taken and how they can support General Directorate of Civil Defence in the case of an event. Further to that, we can demonstrate our ability and willingness to learn how to manage more efficiently our response should such an incident occur.”
