Al Gharrafa Bridge (known as Immigration Bridge) reopened to traffic in both directions on Friday after completion of necessary maintenance works. Five rigs were used to do the necessary maintenance works on the bridge. The work included installation of concrete reinforced beams at a depth of 14 metres below the ground level to support the bridge deck. More than 2500 cubic metres of concrete, 200 tonnes of iron and 700 metres of asphalt were used. The bridge was closed on June 9 this year for emergency maintenance works.
