Qatar finished seventh in the Asia Rugby Women’s Sevens Trophy, which concluded in Jakarta, Indonesia on Sunday. They crushed Bangladesh 44-0 and Chinese Taipei 36-5 to win both the play-off matches.
The team consisted of Salma Marwa Tedjini, Safaa Tedjini, Yasmine Dehbi, Nour Shalaby, Sarah Jane, Gihad Waled Atallah, Lauren Mudgway, Teagan McCormack, Phillipa Frances Innes, Rachel Frances Innes, Yasmine Asabi Aisha Tobun, Angel Janine Nieters, Rebecca Richards and Hana Gildam-Clark.
Hassan El Sabeh was the coach, while Heba Ali Hoham was the team manager and Hamad al Abdulla Ched de Mission.
The Asia Rugby 7s Trophy was held to determine the men’s and women’s champions for 2019 and promotion to the main Asia Rugby 7s Series in 2020.
The Philippines beat Indonesia to claim the women’s title. The Philippines were too physical and beat hosts Indonesia 26-7. The Cup winners went through the whole weekend unbeaten.
