Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi says he and his team must “manage the unexpected moments” well to overcome city rivals AC Milan in their two-legged Coppa Italia semi-final.
AC Milan are the nominal hosts of Wednesday night’s first meeting at the San Siro, the stadium the clubs share.
The Rossoneri head into the match having won two and drawn one of the teams’ three encounters this
season, in spite of Inter having enjoyed a far better domestic campaign.
AC Milan beat Inter in Serie A last September and came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 in the Italian Super Cup in Riyadh in January.
Only an equalizer in the third minute of stoppage time from Stefan De Vrij prevented Inter losing again when the sides met in the league in February.
Inter head into the domestic Cup semi-final three points clear at the top of Serie A, with AC Milan 15 points off the pace in ninth, but Inzaghi knows their league table supremacy will mean nothing come kick-off.
“We’ve had ups and downs against AC Milan,” he said at a pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
