MES Indian School celebrated the 73rd Independence Day of India with traditional gaiety and fervour on Thursday at the KG Hall of the school, which was tastefully decorated with colorful festoons and balloons. MES Governing Board member PK Mohamed hoisted the Indian national flag, followed by rendering of the national anthem by the school choir. PK Mohamed, in his message, highlighted the importance of the day and urged the students to remember the sacrifices of the patriots and martyrs, who laid down their lives in the freedom struggle. AT Usman, secretary, IES Educational Society; Khaleel AP, Ashraf Sharafudheen, directors; K P Subair, MES Governing Body member; and Jahfar Niyas Para, in-charge of principal’s office, along with school officials, parents, students and staff attended the event. A number of students presented cultural programmes on the occasion. Pareekshith Rajesh compered the programme. Tahmina welcomed the gathering and Sara Thakur proposed the vote of thanks. (TNN)
