London: Lionel Messi’s third goal in four MLS matches earned Inter Miami a 1-1 draw at home to Toronto FC. Messi struck deep into stoppage time at the end of the first half, just three minutes after the visitors had taken the lead. Both goals came during added time before the break, Federico Bernadeschi firing winless Toronto ahead after two extra minutes. Messi thought he had opened the scoring in the first half, only for it to be ruled out for a foul in the build-up. But there was no denying his equaliser, volleyed home from the edge of the penalty area, three minutes after they fell behind. The draw extends Miami’s unbeaten start to the MLS season to six matches and leaves them a point behind Eastern Conference leaders Columbus with a game in hand. Miami will host Los Angeles FC on Wednesday, looking to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit in the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarter-final. (PA Media/dpa)
