Augusta: Practice ahead of this week’s 89th Masters was suspended due to bad weather on Monday. Augusta National was evacuated, with more than an inch of rain forecast to fall during scattered thunderstorms. “Due to inclement weather conditions, Augusta National Golf Club was forced to suspend Monday’s practice round and evacuate the grounds,” Augusta National said in a statement. Tournament officials said conditions would be assessed before a decision on any further play would be taken. The tournament begins on Thursday. Earlier on Monday, former champion Vijay Singh, 62, withdrew from the year’s first major due to an unspecified injury. (PA Media/DPA)
