Beirut: A Lebanese minister asserted on Wednesday that security at the Port of Beirut is firmly in place, rejecting recent allegations of smuggling operations tied to Hezbollah.

During a visit to the port, Fayez Rasamny declared that “security at the port is tightly held with an iron grip. The ministry will not tolerate any questioning of this fact. The port is fully secure.” Rasamny, the public works and transport minister, added: “We will apply the same level of vigilance at the port as we did at the airport. I have requested enhanced surveillance and stricter monitoring measures to ensure full control.” His remarks come in response to accusations that Hezbollah is facilitating smuggling operations through the port.
