DPS-Modern Indian School (DPS-MIS) marked the launch of the Government of India initiative ‘Fit India Movement’ amid joy and anticipation.
The programme was inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 29, the National Sports Day.
Modi’s address from the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi was live-screened in the school auditorium and the students took a fitness pledge at the end of the programme. A host of cultural activities was also showcased, indicating the need of taking a step ahead in improving one’s health and happiness.
This ambitious project, coordinated by the Sports Ministry of India, aims at encouraging sports among all age groups and creating awareness of the importance of sports in everyday life. (TNN)
