Qatar will soon have its first female fighter pilot in armed forces, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs HE Dr Khalid bin Mohammed al Attiyah has said.
Addressing the second day of the Qatari Najah Festival forum, he said, "We have an excellent percentage of girls currently employed in the medical, IT and administrative fields. We also have good number of girls in the armed forces and recently, we had female pilots graduating. We are well on the way to having our first female fighter pilot. But, we leave it to their choice where they want to work in.”
On the priorities of the Qatari Armed Forces today, he said, "Our most important priority is to attract Qatari youth because the main protectors of the country are its people. We are keen to have highly professional armed forces that can protect the air, land and sea and protect the capabilities of the state. The Qatari Najah Festival forum focused on the achievements of Dr Attiyah on the second day of the event. (QNA)
