THE Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Doha organised an event to express solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir against alleged Indian atrocities and illegal occupation on Friday.
At the outset of the event, the national anthems of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir were played and their flags raised as well as posters and placards displayed.
The Charge d’ Affaires at Pakistan Embassy Masood Gul also addressed the gathering. He said, “India has been committing atrocities in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir for a long time, and the government and people of Pakistan are deeply saddened at the plight of the Kashmiri brothers who are victims of Indian oppression and state-sponsored terrorism.
“India’s grave atrocities against innocent Kashmiris have crossed all limits of humiliating the humanity and endangering the peace of the region. By scrapping Article 370, India has proved that it does not care about the decisions of the UN Security Council.”
He added that no unilateral step by the government of India can change this disputed status, as enshrined in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions, nor will this ever be acceptable to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan.
He further said that India has imposed a curfew for an inde?nite period in Jammu and Kashmir and has detained the elected representatives there.
He said these actions of India are part of a plan by its ruling party to deprive Kashmiris of their right to self-determination.
Gul said that Pakistan stands by Kashmiris and will continue to extend political, moral and diplomatic support in their struggle for achieving their right to self-determination.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Pakistani community in Qatar.
