Qatar is supporting rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts after Hurricane Dorian battered Bahamas.
On behalf of Qatar, the Qatar Fund for Development has responded urgently to the recent Hurricane Dorian disaster by supporting reconstruction projects and providing immediate support to hurricane victims.
The hurricane caused severe damage and destruction to hospitals and health centres, resulting in insufficient resources to absorb the growing number of wounded people.
At present, it is difficult to accurately quantify the damage, as access to the affected areas is challenging after roads have been closed due to debris and infrastructure destruction, Qatar Fund for Development said.
Qatar will provide its support based on the ongoing needs assessment by the Bahamas government.
