Indonesian Embassy in Qatar has opened condolence book at the residence of Indonesian Ambassador HE Air Marshal (Retd) Mohammad Basri Sidehabi for the former Indonesian president Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie, who died on September 11, 2019.
The embassy will receive condolences on September 16 and 17 from 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm.
Habibie, an aeronautical engineer, was the third president of Indonesia from 1998 to 1999. He served for two months as vice-president in the government of President Suharto who succeeded long-serving military ruler after his resignation.
Following the first general elections in October 1999 since 1955, Habibie withdrew his candidancy for president and Abdulrahman Wahid was elected as the president of Indonesia.
Habibie later retired from politics and established Habibie Center, a political research centre, in 2000.
Habebei had served as minister for Research and Technology for 20 years. He is regarded as the father of technological development of the country.
