REGISTRATION is now open for Qatar’s first Patient Experience Forum, which will be held on November 16 and 17, 2019, in Doha.
Delivered by Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), in partnership with internationally renowned US-based healthcare consultants Planetree International, the conference will focus on the development of a patient-centred approach to care and the importance of involving both patients and their families at every stage of the healthcare journey.
Nasser al Naimi, deputy chief of Quality, Center for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement and director of the Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute, said the forum will provide a platform to address important issues in patient- and family-centred care.
“The Patient Experience Forum is the first of its kind to be held in Qatar and highlights an increasing global emphasis on healthcare and on the importance of involving patients and their families in every step of their treatment journey. To ensure the best possible health outcome, it is important not only to have great technology, facilities and staff, but also an ongoing dialogue with patients and their families. By partnering with them in this way, we can ensure that the care being delivered is reflective of the patients’ needs and beliefs through a shared decision-making process”, said Naimi.
Featuring three main tracks: Better Experience, Better Engagement, and Better Culture and Healthy Communities, the conference aims to not only improve understanding of what great patient care is, but also help healthcare providers develop the skills needed to ensure a patient’s care experience is overwhelmingly positive.
The Better Experience track focuses on a person-centred model of care ensuring caregivers work in partnership with patients and their families to develop personalised care plans. The Better Engagement track focuses on the importance of two-way communication during the healthcare journey, and the Better Culture and Healthy Communities track focuses on recognising what is important to a patient and their family and using the learning to develop care systems that can improve both the patient experience and health outcomes.
The Patient Experience Forum includes plenaries by experts in the patient experience field as well as workshops, break-out sessions, lectures and poster presentations focusing on the importance of patient-centred care.
