Al Sadd and Al Wakrah will open the 2019-20 season Ooredoo Cup in a Round 1 Group A match at the Al Ahli Stadium on Friday.
Both teams will be eager to start off their campaign on a winning note.
Sadd, reigning QSL champions, and Wakrah faced off in Week 1 of this seasons QSL, with the former winning 4-1. Wakrah are the promoted side in the league competition.
The match is expected to be fought keenly even though Sadd will miss some players due to their international duties.
It will be a good opportunity for both sides to prepare themselves. The match should specially benefit Sadd ahead of their AFC Champions League second-leg semifinal against Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh on October 22.
Xavi Hernandez-coached Al Sadd will be without suspended players Baghdad Bounedjah and Abdulkarim Hassan against Al Hilal. The Wolves had lost the first leg 1-4.
In other matches, Ahli will face Umm Salal while Al Rayyan take on Al Shahaniya.
