In a bid to strengthen Qatar’s position as a leading global destination for hospitality, leisure and recreation, Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Ali bin Ahmed al Kuwari opened Hospitality Qatar exhibition in Doha on Tuesday.
The biggest tourism and hospitality event to date in Qatar, the fifth edition of Hospitality Qatar is aimed at supporting Qatar’s efforts to accelerate world class projects in the lead -up to the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) and Qatar Airways GCEO Akbar al Baker, diplomats and a number of Qatari dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
As many as 228 exhibitors from 33 countries are participating in the three-day exhibition being organised by IFP Qatar in partnership with Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC).
With seven international pavilions, the exhibition will witness several innovative events such as highly targeted B2B programme, educational certified conference and training sessions, and Salon Culinaire’s lively activities.
Speaking on the occasion, IFP Qatar General Manager Haidar Mshaimesh said, “We are witnessing yet another successful gathering of leading companies and organisations keen to leverage their expertise during these three days and offer new solutions to fast-track the developments in Qatar’s tourism and hospitality sector.”
Delivering keynote speech on the occasion, Ahmed al Obaidli from QNTC, said, “We are supporting Hospitality Qatar for the second time after seeing the demand for a knowledge-exchange and training platform for tourism professionals.”
“We hope that attendees will benefit from the trainings and discussions offered throughout the conference, and that they will find in them perspectives and tools to stay ahead of changes in the tourism market,” Obaidli said.
The training session organised on the first day of the exhibition highlighted the leading best practices among industry practitioners. Participants learnt about ‘Delivering Unique Experiences in the World of Sports and Entertainment’ to enhance visitor experiences by understanding fans, their behaviour and motivations and how to build unbreakable emotional connection to convert fans into loyal active clients.
Javier Martinez, an internationally renowned sports, leisure and entertainment expert, conducted training on the occasion.
Expanding its horizon, this year’s edition includes a new feature called ‘Destination Pavilion’ sponsored by Qatar Airways. The exclusive pavilion showcases the many destination points where the airline flies.
In association with the Luxury Trade & Marketing Group, the exhibition is also showcasing a ‘Luxury Tourism’ dedicated area featuring innovative technologies, services, solutions on luxury tourism and eco-friendly concepts.
Commenting on the occasion, Al Sraiya Holding Group Chief Operating Officer Ahmad Nasser Sraiya al Kaabi said, “Hospitality Qatar an ideal platform to showcase latest services as well as promote insightful concepts that would increase engagement in Qatar’s hospitality sector. It is an ideal place to meet new partners and pursue business opportunities in line with our efforts to contribute to the sustainable development of the country.”

Hospitality Qatar’s signature events which include the Salon Culinaire in partnership with Qatar Culinary Professionals (QCP) also started on the first day and visitors were enthralled with the various new dishes presented during the show.
Live Cooking Competitions attracted a huge audience as food connoisseurs watched how gourmet dishes come to life right before them.
Various aspects of the hospitality industry such as hotels and facilities, interiors and design, entertainment and leisure, travel and tourism, resorts and outdoor landscape, HORECA technologies and equipment, ecologically friendly hotels systems and solutions, and food and beverages options will be showcased throughout the exhibition.
The first day also saw huge participation by industry professionals and visitors at the conference entitled ‘The First Entertainment Island in Qatar – Qetaifan Contribution to FIFA World Cup’.
In a presentation, Qetaifan Projects Chief Operating Officer Hesham Sharaf provided participants with an update on the developments within the Qetaifan Island and the current opportunities for prospective partners.
